Order of Dianat Khan to Purshottam Das about tax collection and apprehending thieves

The landlord (chaudhri) Purshottam Das of district (pargana) Dhar is praised for all he has done to improve agriculture and told to continue to do so, as well as to lodge apprehended thieves with a Mughal official.

1چودھری پرگنہ دھار از صوبہ مالوہ را اعلام آنکہ چون حقیقت دولت خواھی و نیک سلوکی
2او سیادت و نقابت پناہ وزارت و متعالی و نگاہ محبت و مودب اطوار میر ابراھیم بسیار
3باینجانب نوشتہ بودند کہ در تردد زراعت فصل ربیع وغیرہ نھایت سعی دارد
4بنا بران نوشتہ می شود کہ ھمبرین نمط در تردد زراعت و وصول مال واجبی
5ساعی بودہ آنچنان احتیاط بکار برد کہ مال سرکار بوقت عاید شود
6و زراعت و آبادانی روزبروز افزون گردد و خاطر خواہ شود
7کہ موافق خدمات حسنہ بہ نتایج نیک سرافرازی خواھد یافت و دزدان را کہ
8آوردہ بسیادت و نقابت پناہ میر مشار الیہ رجوع نمودہ مجری او بسیار شد
9خاطر خود جمع داشتہ درین باب خود را معاف بدارد بتاریخ ۲۷ شھر محرم سنه ٢٨ بیض


1It is indicated to the chaudhri of pargana Dhar of suba Malwa that since the facts about his loyalty and good behaviour
2 have been written by that Refuge of Lordliness and Excellence and Ministry and Exaltation and Care of Love and Friendship Mir Ibrahim
3 to me, that in the improvement of agriculture for the spring harvest etc., he [you] made a great deal of effort.
4 On this basis, let it be written that [by] continuing to make such efforts in the organizing of agriculture and the collection of the taxes due,
5 [you] pay such attention to work that the taxes of the government are collected on time
6 and the agriculture and habitation increases day by day, and it shall be desired
7 that according to good service, he [you] be glorified by good results. And the thieves that
8 [you] had brought and lodged with the said Mir [Ibrahim], your work was well executed.
9 Being settled in mind, [you] should consider himself excused in this matter. 27 Muharram of the year 28. Ended.
